IC Information:
Name: Kara Zor-El
Fandom: DC Comics
Timeline:Post Issue-5
Age: 16
Appearance: Supergirl's probably around 5'6", not too tall, and not too short either. She's not big and muscular, but she's not a stick either, resting instead at that seeming unachievable average size. Her eyes are an icy blue, her hair blond and cut close to the neck at an angle Her typical outfit consists of a longsleved blue leotard with her family crest and red and yellow designs near the bottom, red knee-high boots with straps above the knees, and a big swooshy red cape with yellow edging. here is her rough design.
Abilities: Supergirl has all the powers of Superman. (Oh boy oh boy) These include the following:
-Flight
-Superstrength
-Super Speed
-Freeze Breath
-Laser Eyes
-Heating her body up to extreme temperatures
-Being able to hold her breath for hours on end
-Possessing a near Indestructible body, with the obvious exception of kryptonite, which she is extremely weak to.
She's still new to these powers, and hasn't been formally trained with any of them, so everything's still done very clumsily.
Personality: Kara can easily be described as the girl next door. She was very involved in her family, and followed tradition properly. She mentions having had friends in Argo. Once upon a time, she was the kind of girl that would sit and laugh, gossip about boys and fashion. She shows great love for her family, particularly her father and her baby cousin Kal. Her mother is regarded with a mix of respect and fear, and she obeys her parents commands like a good girl. Her time on Argo was spent with her head held proud and high, and while on the inside she was plagued with insecurities, she never showed them on the outside.
Responsible isn't a word that can be completely used to describe Kara. She regards the trials with a good deal of procrastination, despite knowing their importance in her future. When she lands on Earth, she lashes out violently rather than thinking things through rationally. Kara holds great power in her hands, but is she rational enough to use this power for good? Maybe, maybe not. It's hard to tell. While she shows various moments of irresponsibility, her family seems to think she was responsible enough to be the one to carry on her entire race. She doesn't carry herself the same way her cousin Superman does, she doesn't feel like the people of Earth are her responsibility. She's a much more cynical version of Kal.
She doesn't exactly hold herself in high esteem, and while she holds others lives in great importance, Kara is still very wreckless with her own. Her body is new and indestructible, and in rage of the horrors going on around her, she is seen constantly pushing her own limits. Flying through space with her breath held, looking for her long lost destroyed planet? Sounds like a good idea to Kara. She's not rational at all with her thought patterns, spontaneously jumping into action instead without thinking consequences through. This rarely leads to good things, but it always takes Kara two or three tries before she ever learns her lesson. She's prone to freaking out and using her strength to destroy things, and has no problem with killing people she deems bad. Her anger flies off the handle, and she acts out without thinking. She lashes out, hurts people, and destroys peoples homes. She doesn't want to, she just has extremely poor self-control.
Despite the fact that Kara spends long amounts of time brooding and feeling sorry for herself, when the time comes, she can arise to a position of courage and power. Between constant fights and traumatic events, she's becoming accustomed to keeping her cool and fighting for others. The sight of normal people living in their homes is enough to cool her head and make her stop destruction. She's got a big heart, though she wouldn't like to admit it, and she does care a lot about people. She doesn't like to see them get hurt. So, even though she puts on a big show about not being like her cousin at all, in the end, they're pretty similar. They both fight for others.
History: Kara Zor-EL was a normal girl raised on Krypton, a planet in space. Most of her young life is unknown, but it is known that she was close to her family. She loved her parents, and often worried about letting them down. In Krypton, all girls coming of age were faced with something called 'The Trials'. Upon successfully completing the trials, they would be deemed an adult, and be allowed to wear the family crest. Unlike most other girls, Kara was not excited about the trials. She faced them with more anxiety than excitement, and wasted away her days playing with her newborn cousin Kal instead of studying for them as she should. Then, one day, everything went black.
Next thing she knew, Kara was climbing out of a space capsule in a crater on Earth, wearing the outfit she shouldn't have been wearing until after she completed the trials. Having no memory of what happened, and no idea of where she was, she was already highly distressed and confused. When men in large robotic suits were sent to retrieve her, she lashed out in panic with her newfound superstrength. In her rampage, she almost killed a boy, but was able to gain control on herself realizing that these were peoples lives. Then Superman showed up, and ruined everything.
Enraged by the sight of her family crest on a man who she thinks is an impostor of her baby cousin, she goes into a complete rampage again. Throwing two aliens with superpowers like theirs together is a bad thing, and they managed to cause a lot of destruction. It wasn't until Kara takes out a chunk of the great wall of China, and sees the damage that she's done to normal citizens that she calmed down enough to talk to Kal. She agreed not to hurt anyone anymore, and stopped to listen to what he has to say.
But what Kal-El had to say isn't something Kara liked. He told her that their home planet was destroyed, and that they are the only survivors. Kara, refusing to believe this, flew back to the spot where she had crashed, hoping to find some clues that would lead her back home. But when she got back to the crash site, she found that a man named Simon Tycho had taken the sunstone her father had left for her. She knew this sunstone held a recorded message from her father on it, so Kara flew into space, this time seeking out Tycho. Tycho, however, didn't have good intentions for Kara. Harassing the power of Kryptonite, he captured and tortured her, taking samples of her DNA as he went. Lucky for Kara, the boy whose life she spared before was on board the ship, and out of mercy, he released her.
The boys good deeds did not go unpunished. As soon as Kara was released from her Kryptonite prison, Tycho had the boy killed before Kara's eyes. After reclaiming her sunstone, Kara went on a complete rampage, and ended up destroying the entire space station. Lost in space and extremely upset, Kara decided she had nothing left to do except fly through space with her breath held, and hope she flew into Krypton sooner or later. Not the smartest of plans, but luckily, she found her home town Argo intact, empty, and floating through space. On Argo, she was able to find a reader for the sunstone.
On the sunstone was a message from her father, as expected. He explained that if she was watching it, his worst fears were confirmed, and Krypton was indeed gone. He then went on to tell her that there was still hope, through her, and that he had something very important to tell her. But before he could tell her, something went wrong. Kara was forced to watch in horror on video as someone came into the room, and murdered her father before her very eyes.
Soon after watching the video, she met a mysterious woman named Reign. She offered Kara an opportunity to join her, but in Kara's grief, she refused. She and Reign began battle, during which Reign revealed her identity as a Worldkiller. She intended to kill Kara, finishing the murder of Krypton with her. She pinned Kara against a wall in Argo with her sword, then flew away, leaving Kara there to die.
Roleplay Sample - Log: Flying is the sort of thing Kara thought she'd never really get used to. The first time it was so shocking she almost fell right out of the air. The second time and third times, she had hurtled herself through space holding her breath. But now, it was just a way of getting around. A little way of speeding up her daily routine, something that put her at the advantage of everything else, something that made her useful.
She clenched her eyes shut and focused on letting go of gravity, and her body began to levitate off the ground. It was only a matter of thinking of what she wanted to do to maneuver to the top of the highest shelf, where her prize was. Once she got to the top, she peeked open an eye, and then opened both of them. "There you are." She exclaimed. She pulled the board game off the top shelf, then swooped back down to the little girl who had asked her to retrieve it. "Here you go."
She stopped and took in the little girl, then quickly regretted it. The way the girl was looking at her, something made her very uncomfortable. Kara managed a quick smile, then waved, and in the swish of a cape she was flying in the opposite direction. Before the girl could thank her. Before she could think she was some sort of hero.
"I guess there are some advantages to flying."
Roleplay Sample - Journal: So, is there any way to see the stars from here? I'm not talking about the projections they put up at night, I already know about all of those. I mean the real stars. Please let me know if you there is any way.
I... I read somewhere, that when you look at a star in the sky, sometimes that star is already dead. Those worlds have burned out and died, and you're left looking at the remainder from your own home, all the while never aware what terror the inhabitants of that planet might be-- Nevermind.
Stars. I'm Kara. Get back to me. Bye.
This game includes horrible mental and physical torture of your character. After reading the rules/faq for clarification, how do you expect your character to handle this and continue to function? Luckily, Kara's just experienced a huge traumatic event in her life, so she's ready for the facility. While it's true that she'll probably desperately smash her body against the edge of the biodome like a fly against a window at least a few times, she's not dumb, and she'll begin to piece things together. She won't follow in Superman's footsteps, but will probably continue through the game slightly cynical and bitter, but alive. It'll take a lot of spilled tears, but she'll hold herself together, for nothing other than carrying on the legacy of her family.
